Accredited Certification
Earn professional certificates approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and/or Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK). Most countries accept Class-approved training certificate as equivalent for local endorsements. Check with your flag state for endorsement requirements.
This is an ABS-approved course. Candidates will earn an ABS-approved course completion certificate upon successful completion of this course.
This course is also approved by the US Coast Guard. US citizens can earn a USCG-approved course completion certificate by passing a proctored online test from a USCG-approved location.
The Subchapter M regulations will affect thousands of vessels across the maritime industry. All companies operating towing vessels must have a Certificate of Inspection from the USCG starting with 25% of their fleet by July 22nd, 2019 to 100% of their fleet being inspected by July 19th, 2022.
The Tug and Barge Crew Member Training Program which is self-paced and completely on-line. Any applicant who completes the Crewmember Program for Towing Vessels – Subchapter M (On-Line) course and presents the certificate of training within one year of completion will satisfy the Subchapter M training requirements of 46 CFR 140.505, 515,645 and 915 for Towing Vessels.
