The course provides the necessary knowledge and technical information to enable successful completion of the QMED05 Pumpman/Machinist examinations consisting of subjects as detailed in 46 CFR Table 1 to §12.505(c) – Examination Subjects for QMED Ratings; and the necessary knowledge and technical information to enable successful completion of the Tank Ship Familiarization and should also enable candidates to serve on oil tankers in a capacity other than master, chief engineer officer, chief mate, or second engineer officer, and to perform specific duties and responsibilities related to those duties in connection with cargo and cargo equipment, provided that they are not immediately responsible for the loading, discharging care in transit or handling of cargo. Any applicant who has successfully completed the QMED-Pumpman/Machinist course will satisfy:
