IMO Regulations

Passenger ships of 500GT and over shall carry at least one rescue boat on each side of the ships

At least one of rescue boats on a ro-ro passenger ship with a length of 6m and a top speed of at least 20 knots

Cargo ships shall carry at least one rescue boat.

Lifeboatman LB02

This course is designed to reflect the general requirements for Lifeboatman – Limited endorsements, under 46 CFR 12.409. This is for Seafarers at the entry-level to effectively carry out all the duties that may be required of a Lifeboatman, taking charge of a rescue boat, liferaft, or other lifesaving apparatus during and after launch.

The examination for this endorsement will involve liferafts, rescue boats, and other survival craft except lifeboats, including the clearing away, launching, and handling of rescue craft, except lifeboats; and the operation and functions of launching devices for rescue boats and survival craft other than lifeboats.

Successful candidates will be eligible for a US Coast Guard STCW endorsement as PSC-Limited as mandated by 1995 STCW Convention and satisfies the requirements of IMO STCW 1995 and NVIC 04-14
